Australian poker anchor Lynn Gilmartin proved that she’s more than just a nice-looking lady by recently stepping out from behind the microphone. She’s been in the poker industry for over a decade, the Fox Sport and World Poker Tour (WPT) Alpha8 host over turned her role this past weekend after she took down the €200 ladies event at EPT Barcelona.
EPT Barcelona Breaks The Record
EPT Barcelona attracted 148 entrants which made this event the biggest of its form in the history of EPT. This event showed that female enthusiasm in poker is on the rise with this year’s figure showing a 45 percent year increase.
This event had the likes of Hiromi Miyakawa, Pei Yu Lai and Yan Li travelling from China and Japan making their way to the final table. Nonetheless, it was Gilmartin who sat centre stage together with another Australian player, Heather Dorazio when it came down to the heads-up showdown.
The two players decided to take home less than €6,000 each after wanting to show some Aussie national loyalty towards each other.
Gilmartin’s Poker Inspiration
After the money was divided down to the middle, only the title was left to play for and this was Gilmartin”s time to shine. Gilmartin was very lucky to have Angel Guillen by her side and she managed to strike away at Dorazio.
After grabbing the last few chips from Dorazio, she stood in the same again limelight and this time, it was her turn field questions from the poker press.
Gilmartin suggested that she may now play in the Main Event and she feels like she should commit herself to that. “I’ve come here to see Barcelona and have a good time, so without a doubt, I’m not going to be in the casino everyday day.” Gilmartin said.
