New RTG Online Casino Slot Game: Pulsar

A new year brings a new look for Realtime Gaming. Its latest release is a space odyssey of sorts, a trip into the great beyond. It differs greatly from other recent releases like Magic Mushroom, T-Rex II, and holiday-themed online slots like Rudolph Awakens and Halloween Treasures.

Pulsar is a game centered around the calm of outer space, though it is mixed with some laser action and exciting features. And the original new game from Pulsar is already a hit with Aussie online casino players.

New Direction, Original Game

All of Realtime Gaming’s slot offerings are original. From Cash Bandits to Builder Beaver, RTG creates new faces and themes for its online casino partners. RTG also separates itself from other online slot developers with new takes on old themes, like adding “boiling point jackpots” to Spirit of the Inca and making a Halloween witch into a much sexier one in Bubble Bubble.

The Pulsar theme is definitely a new one for RTG, which typically showcases its development skills in the areas of animation and original characters. This game even boasts of a honeycomb grid, another unusual but fun choice by RTG.

Pulsar is an exciting new option for players who frequent Australian-facing online casinos.

Pulsar Overview

The soundtrack for Pulsar has a bit of a retro feel, maybe a little disco or techno vibe. Whatever it is, it does provide a bit of an upbeat feel for a space-themed slot game.

A traditional space background makes the grid looks like it’s slowly moving through outer space. The symbols on the grid, however, brighten the game with bright whites and oranges. And the buttons at the bottom of the screen look like controls on a spaceship.

Technically, the grid offers five reels, and the rows are in a 3-2-3-2-3-2 pattern. Pulsar offers 20 paylines.

Payouts for Pulsar

The lowest bet possible is $0.01 per line, which comes to $0.20 per spin. The bet can then be increased up to $0.25 per line, which equals a $5.00 cost per spin.

The maximum win per spin in the game is 50,000x the bet per line.

The payouts for each symbol with five on a payline are as follows:

  • Sun = 150x bet
  • Planet = 80x bet
  • Ringed blue planet = 40x bet
  • Smaller partially-orange planet = 40x bet
  • Smaller green/blue planet = 15x bet
  • Meteor = 15x bet
  • Exploding star = 5x
  • Smaller brown planet = 5x

Pulsar Features and Gameplay

Players will quickly find out that there are cascading wins and exploding stars in Pulsar.

After a winning combination hits on a payline, those symbols are removed, and all symbols fall into those empty spaces. This also happens after a star explosion. The cascading wins offer numerous payout opportunities from just one spin.

Pulsar has four different neurons that can occur during any spin. The neutron star will appear with a randomly-assigned number – three, two, or one. Each spin thereafter will decrease the number, though cascading wins do the same. When the number is reduced to zero, the neutron star will explode. After that explosion, a randomly-selected symbol will replace all of those spots opened up by the explosion.

The numbered neutrons pulsate to stand out on the grid. And when they are reduced to zero, the spin button is temporarily disabled so players will get the full payout from the exploded neutron star.

Each neutron star has its own blast pattern when it explodes.

  • Green star = left to right
  • Blue star = up and down
  • Pink star = adjacent sides
  • Red star = adjacent corners

Tips for Playing Pulsar

If the somewhat-monotonous music gets to be too much, the music can be muted via the controls. The winnings sounds are the only ones remaining.

Don’t worry about spinning too fast. In fact, using the automatic spinner is better, as it allows all of the cascading and exploding to happen smoothly before the next spin.

Also, it is our experience in testing this game that there will be neutron star numbers on almost every spin. And they truly are random; some start at threes and require a few spins to get them to explode, but some do appear initially as ones and explode on the very next spin.

Don’t worry about identifying the planets. Science knowledge is not a requirement to be able to see when matching symbols appear on a payline.

Where to Play Pulsar

A great many Australian online casino sites offer RTG slot games.

Fair Go Casino is the most popular and highest-ranked pokies site that picked up Pulsar for its players. Uptown Pokies, Planet 7 Casino, and Raging Bull Slots also offer the game.

Ignition Casino and Jack Million do typically offer Realtime Gaming slots, so they may be integrating Pulsar into their slot offerings soon.
