Wpt League Annual Poker Championship Starts 31 March

In just a few days, the WPT League will launch into its biggest series of the year: the WPT League Annual Poker Championship. Not only is the action headed for Sydney, St. John’s Park Bowling Club will host it in the Pavilion Poker Room that will be the official home of the WPT League going forward.

Players are undoubtedly ready for live poker. That’s where the WPT League Sydney comes in with 16 APC events in 12 days. There will be big guarantees and a Player of the Series Promotion with a new MG3 car set aside for the winner.

If the turnout for the WPT League Quarterly Poker Championship last month was any indication, the APC could be one of the biggest ever.

APC Basics

The WPT League Sydney Annual Poker Championship (APC) will kick off on Wednesday, 31 March. Its 16 tournaments will span 12 days and wrap up on Thursday, 11 April.

The series will offer $500K in total guarantees, with $200K of that for the APC Main Event alone. There are reentries and freezeouts on the schedule, bounties and teams, and even a PLO for those four-card fans. Buy-ins range from $50 to $1,150.

It will be held in the Pavilion Poker Room at St. Johns Park Bowling Club on Edensor Road. What used to be the Pavilion Bar was recently repurposed into a permanent poker room and the official home of the WPT League. The room can seat up to 150 players at a time, and players will be able to view sporting events on the 15 large-screen televisions around the room.

After the APC ends, the Pavilion Poker Room will host nightly poker events per player requests.

Further, the WPT League will host regular events – monthly and quarterly in the new room. According to Poker Media Australia, it will be a hub for all WPT events and satellites in the Asia-Pacific region.

WPT League licensee Bruno Rao described the room as a “facility for the middle market” with upgraded, casino-grade equipment. He said the room will be a “gateway for WPT events internationally, whether that be Asia or the US.”
