The Star Entertainment Group has recently revealed the three shortlisted designs for its new hotel tower at The Star casino in Pyrmont, Sydney.
The designs for the tower at the Sydney Star Casino, which is expected to be at least 215m tall, are currently under review and the public is welcome to comment. Some of the most respected architectural firms in the world, BVN, fjmt, and Grimshaw, have all submitted designs to be considered.
“We want to be transparent, we want to be inclusive, and we want to listen to the views of the community. It is a significant element of this process,” said The Star Entertainment Group’s managing director and CEO, Matt Bekier.
Sydney Star Casino – New Tower to Become a Marvel of the City
The new tower, which will have more than 150 permanent residences, 220 hotel rooms, as well as several restaurants, will be operated by The Ritz-Carlton. It will form part of the Star Casino complex and will connect to the existing casino at the most Northern end of the complex.
The new tower is designed to fit into the existing complex with as little impact as possible on the surrounding area.
As one of Sydney’s most loved casinos and a landmark of the city for more than 20 years, The Star is seemingly always looking to expand and grow. Currently, 11 million guests visit the casinos every year, and the casino and hotels serve more than 10 000 guests every Saturday night. The new tower will not impact the current casino, and The Star is expected to stay open during the construction process.
The project is also being backed by foreign investors, including Chow Tai Fook Enterprises Limited and Far East Consortium International Limited, both based in Hong Kong.
Once the final design has been chosen, it will be made public. The Star Entertainment Group says it will offer regular updates on the tower’s progress.
