Betting apps amount to two-thirds of Aussie betting turnover

According to recent research, online casino sports gambling accounts for almost two-thirds of the sports betting app market in Australia.

New research conducted by Matt Ryan, an analyst at USB, estimates that mobile and desktop sports gambling was responsible for about 65% of Australia’s betting turnover. This is reported for the six months that ended December 2016.  From the same period last year, the digital turnover share increased by 23%. While retail gambling dropped by 6% over the same period of time.

Australia’s digital gains are impressive considering that licensed operators in Australia were requested to suspend their in-play sports betting operations last year in September. In-play applications had grown to be popular in the realm of online sports betting, especially in Australia. Some operators even claimed that their turnover tripled after the in-play application’s launch.

Currently, Paddy Power Bet fair’s Sports bet stands as the king of the betting app in all of Australia. They account for approximately 31% of all betting-app downloads. The second runner-up was Tabcorp at 20% and William Hill ranking third with 15%.

A combination of William Hill, Bet365, Sportsbet and Ladbrokes accounted for a total of 65% of all mobile and desktop betting app downloads. Matt Ryan noted some correlation that was between the digital market share and iOS downloads. He also suggested that it may stand to be an indicator of revenue trends within operators and enduring digital market share.

PGA Australia gets sponsored by Ladbrokes

In other sports betting news, Ladbrokes boosted its prominence amongst golf bettors by striking a naming rights contract with PGA in Australia. The terms and the conditions of the deal could not be disclosed. But Ladbrokes will now stand as the official partner of PGA’s primary Australian Tour. The deal will last until the end of the 2020 PGA season.

The marketing manager of Ladbrokes, Jason Kibsgaard articulated his pride in the addition of another Aussie sports feather to the sponsorship cap of Ladbroke.  While David Pryless, the commercial manager of PGA called the deal with Ladbrokes a “massive boost” to their local game.

With this new deal between Australia’s PGA and Ladbrokes, there’s definitely more for Aussie’s golf bettors to enjoy!
